One of the great strengths of Economics at UC Merced is its young and enthusiastic faculty. As a new institution UC Merced has had the opportunity to attract vibrant faculty from some of the top graduate programs and departments in the country. We engage our undergraduate and graduate students using innovative teaching methods and have close research relationships with our graduate students. We emphasize applied research and publish papers in the top academic journals in our fields. Our focus on both our students and our research means a first-rate education for our students.
The University of California is creating a dynamic new university campus and campus community in Merced, California, which opened in September 2005 as the tenth campus of the University of California and the first American research university built in the 21st century. In keeping with the mission of the University to provide teaching, research and public service of the highest quality, UC Merced will be providing new educational opportunities at the undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels. The campus is located at the base of the Sierra Nevada foothills, near Yosemite and the San Francisco Bay Area.
The economics faculty at Merced specialize in applied microeconomics and are building a strong labor studies focus. We are constantly looking to add experienced and new researchers to our ranks.
