Professor Jason Lee. My favorite class was Introduction to Economics.
Do you have any fond or meaningful memories from UC Merced?
Meeting some of my best friends from college! Also working at Health Promotion, they are awesome.
What do you do in your current role? What’s a typical day like?
I am part of a team that help steward 9.3 trillion USD for over 50 million investors. I provide corporate actions data to portfolio managers and traders of Vanguard ETFs and Mutual Funds.
Anything you wish you’d done differently in college to prepare for your career?
I wish in my junior or senior year that I spent more time thinking about what career I wanted to pursue. I would've been able to start working towards developing the skillset needed for that career path or role.
What advice do you have for current MBE/ECON majors for transitioning to post-college life?
As of August 2025, the job market in finance has become very competitive. As you transition to post-college life, start taking action on how to differentiate yourself from others. For example, if you want to pursue a career in Finance, you may want to participate in the CFA program. In addition, start utilizing AI in your day to day life. Companies are quickly adapting to this new technology and in 3-5 years, this will become a required skillset.
