Class of 2018: BS Management & Business Economics Minor Psychology
Why did you choose to attend UC Merced?
UC Merced gave me the best opportunity to set myself up for academic and professional career success. With the unique campus environment and ability to create lasting relationships with friends and faculty.
Was there a class or professor that left a lasting impression on you?
Definitely Professor Lee! I took multiple courses with him, and I feel that my experience at UC Merced would not have been the same without him. I consider him a friend even many years after my graduation. We even went to see the NFC Championship game together where I saw my beloved Packers lose to the 49ers. Truly one of the best professors the UC system has to offer.
What has your career journey been like since graduating?
After graduating I worked at Yelp Inc as an account executive. Within one year I realized I wanted to work in Finance and the financial industry. I then made the jump to Vanguard where I worked in retirement services department. I then transitioned into the role as a Financial Advisor where I have spent the last 3 years while earning my Certified Financial Planner Designation.
What do you do in your current role? What’s a typical day like?
I help provide current and prospective clients with financial advice that is designed to help with their investment and financial success. This can cover my areas including retirement planning, education planning, and estate planning.
What advice would you give incoming UC Merced students?
